Sardinian companies are getting more and more at the forefront in protecting the sea and the environment and they joined together in the MEDSEA “Blue Community”. Projects, numbers and a common vision were shared at Blue Waves, the first event for Sardinian companies committed in the circular economy for the sea and the environment,
On 2 July 2021, at the Lazzaretto in Cagliari, they will meet at the first edition of Blue Waves, the first event on the circular economy for the sea in Sardinia. The round tables will have some leading companies in environmental commitment, to share projects, best practices and think about common goals and ambitions for the future of our island.
The Prada group has decided to support the MEDSEA Foundation for the project to restore marine ecosystems with the reforestation of Posidonia oceanica meadows in the 'Capo Carbonara' Marine Protected Area in Villasimius. The project aims to be, according to a press release, a "thank you to the Sardinian community and its environment", the catwalk of the latest SS22 menswear collection, spring-summer 2022.

The MedArtSal project, which promotes the sustainable development of artisanal saltworks in the Mediterranean basin, finally begins its implementation phase. The national and international commissions have selected in Italy the two proposals that better translate in action the principles of innovation in salt production and environmental protection.
Every resident of Sardinia should cut 37 kilos in its waste production by 2022. Solutions to "lighten up" and start thinking in a Circular way were discussed at the MEDSEA Foundation conference "Circularity in Sardinia, from production models and smart consumption management of food and everyday goods ” last May, the 3rd.
The new program of the Sardinian foundation MEDSEA, no profit Organization Sardinia-based, together with Nieddittas, a leading company that manages the entire mussel farming chain in the Gulf of Oristano, makes this possible. The initiative was born within the “Blue Eco Lab” that the MEDSEA Foundation carries out in the Sardinian territory to design specific solutions for the recycling of waste at sea with the purpose to give new life to materials. Through the collaboration between the MEDSEA foundation and Nieddittas, the laboratory will explore the potential of the reconversion of waste materials from mussel farming activities.
The MEDSEA foundation has been awarded the contract “ENSERES” (ENhancing Socio-Ecological RESilience in Mediterranean coastal areas) funded under the ENI CBC MED program with a budget of 1 million euros which aims to reinforce the ecological and social resilience of coastal communities in the Mediterranean.
