MEDSEA joined the 7th TransformAr Consortium Meeting in Exeter

In Late September, the seventh Consortium Meeting of TransformAr took place in Exeter in South West England, organised by the partner Westcountry Rivers Trust, who are coordinating the Nature Based solutions in the catchments of the River Axe, the River Camel and the Somerset Levels and Moors Ramsar Site.  This event brought together stakeholders from across Europe to assess the progress made in the project and to plan the next steps. With more than two-thirds of the project now completed, it was a perfect opportunity to reflect on the achievements so far and to map out the future.

During the meeting, participants shared updates on various aspects of the project. As MEDSEA, we provided updates on the ongoing installation of the smart gate and sensors in Sardinia, specifically in the Oristano area. These technologies are designed to monitor water quality, playing a key role in protecting fish stocks. We are implementing advanced sensors to measure water saturation, temperature, and other critical parameters for environmental monitoring and water resource management. Their successful implementation will be a crucial component of the adaptive solutions portfolio tailored to this region.

Looking forward, refined solutions will soon be ready for replication in other regions, ensuring that the adaptive strategies developed through TransformAr can be scaled and adapted to diverse coastal areas confronting climate challenges.

The three-day discussions in Exeter covered a range of topics, from digital solutions and financial models to governance strategies. ‘’These sessions highlighted how collaboration and innovation are key to building climate resilience in different regions‘’, explained Manuela Puddu, Local Project Manager at MEDSEA for the TransformAr project. The event served as a platform for the exchange of valuable insights and expertise, enriching the overall knowledge base of the participants.

In addition to the formal discussions, the meeting featured interactive workshops and a visit to the historic Killerton House and its gardens, further fostering connections between partners.
